Quick Getaways from Mumbai
A few places we’d book when a weekend away needs to feel like an actual holiday.
1. Oleander Farms, Karjat
For: countryside, but make it polished

A sprawling countryside property in Karjat with a farm, lake, restaurants and plenty of room to do absolutely nothing. Close enough for a spontaneous weekend, polished enough to feel like one.
2. The Postcard, Alibaug
For: the very quiet luxury weekend
Private, intimate and deliberately removed from the usual Alibaug resort circuit. This is the one we’d pick when the brief is good food, a beautiful room and very little interaction with the outside world.
3. The Forest Club, Karjat
For: a proper green reset

Tucked into the Sahyadris, with a lake, forest and a design-led resort experience. It feels like an escape rather than a hotel that happens to be outside Mumbai.
4. Sula Vineyards, Nashik
For: the weekend that involves wine

Stay on the vineyard, eat well, wander through the estate and let the landscape do the heavy lifting. Nashik is an especially good answer when you want your quick break to have an actual itinerary.
5. The Herb Farm, Igatpuri
For: slow mornings and a little wellness

A more intimate alternative to the big resort format, surrounded by greenery and designed around food, nature and slowing down. This is the one we’d save for when the city feels particularly loud.
6. The Machan, Atvan
For: disappearing into the forest

Treehouses tucked 30–45 feet above the forest, with private decks, valley views and the Western Ghats all around you. This is less “resort weekend” and more let’s temporarily forget Mumbai exists.
7. Saj by The Lake, Malshej Ghat
For: the slow, scenic one

A lakeside escape in the Western Ghats for when the brief is spectacular views, long breakfasts and absolutely nowhere you need to be.
8. Upper Deck Resort, Lonavala
For: clouds, views, and old-school hill-station romance

Perched around 2,500 feet above sea level, overlooking Valvan Reservoir and Rajmachi Fort, this is classic Lonavala at its most scenic.
You don’t always need a holiday.
Sometimes you just need a really good room somewhere else.
You don’t always need to take a week off to feel like you’ve gone somewhere.
Sometimes, all it takes is a two-hour drive, a room with a view, a very long breakfast and absolutely nothing on the agenda.
From forest hideaways in Atvan to lakeside stays in Malshej and hillside escapes in Lonavala, these are the places we’d book when Mumbai starts feeling a little too loud.
Save this for the next time you need to disappear for 48 hours.
